Five00 – 15 | New(s) Story

Write a 500 word tale based on an article or news item you read or saw.

You may attach the link to the source material in the author notes, though not mandatory. One or two max, please. We are not asking for a citation. This will not be included in the word count. 

The aim of this event is give the writers a chance to explore their creative potential. We encourage you to be experimental and original.

Is there a genre you want to try like magic realism?

Or is there narrative design like Soc that you think you can pull it off?

Maybe give that intimidating second person PoV a try.

Just give us a story which will stop us in our tracks. This is an open event for everyone to participate in. However, we may not be able to accept submissions from Mars and Pluto at the moment. We are working on it.

Five00-13 Event Rules and Guidelines. 

1. Word limit: Minimum 480 and maximum 500 words.
   –>Please note that Endnotes/footnotes in entries will be excluded from Word count only when they stand independent of the story and act as a reference.
   Examples for Endnotes that will NOT be included in word count:
   Glossary, Credits, Reference links.
   Examples for Endnotes that WILL be included in word count:
   Epilogue, Author Notes (If the story depends on it for clarification), PostScript
2. 1 entry per Writer. No previously published writings. 
3. You are expected to post your entries on the ArtoonsInn Writers Room website | writers.artoonsinn.com. Sign up on the website in case you haven’t already, to submit your writing. Ensure you check relevant categories (Genre/Theme) that your story is most relevant to while submitting.
4. If you own a website powered by ArtoonsInn, you can share your story there and post the link directly on group timeline.
5. Upload a non-copyrighted cover picture along with your writing (Refer www.unsplash.com). Make sure to add photographer credits at the bottom of your writing.
6. Share the link to your story, once it is approved on the website, in the ArtoonsInn Writers Room Facebook group with your post description and hashtags #ArtoonsInnWritersRoom #NewsStory #Five0015.
7. Last date to post on Facebook group: 17th June 11.59PM. Entries submitted after the deadline will be considered as Guest entries. Winner/s will be announced on Recognition day i.e. 30th June.
8. Rulfy is mandatory. In depth reviews are encouraged and rewarded
9. Take care of your Mental Health as much as you do of your Physical Health.
